Dance Classes Available
The best foundation for a well-rounded dancer is classical ballet. At Artisan School of Dance, we specialize in classical ballet instruction. In addition to classical ballet, we also encourage our dancers to be well-rounded in other areas of dance. That is why we offer instruction in jazz, contemporary and flamenco. Artisan offers dance instruction for all ages, from toddlers to adults. Classical ballet is the foundation on which all dance is built. Through their instruction, our dancers receive the benefits of classical training, including discipline, grace, balance, full-body strength, and coordination. With more than 50 years of combined classical dance training, knowledge, and professional experience, we instruct our dancers in the proper fundamentals of classical ballet.
Our ballet classes are taught by Artistic Director Martha Brem, Angel Laza and Claudia Laza. We are also very fortunate to have esteemed guest instructors. Visit our Instructor page to read more about the high quality professional Ballet Instructors who teach at Artisan!
Flamenco is a style of music and dance depicted as being the music of Andalusian gitanos (gypsies) of Spain. But historically, its roots are in mainstream Spanish society, beginning in the 18th century. Flamenco is made up of 3 different parts, el toque (guitar), el cante (song), and el baile (dance).
Jazz is currently one of the most popular dance styles because it allows for individual expression and interpretation. It provides a wonderful way for students to develop musicality and coordination, as well as the perfect outlet for individual artistic expression, in contrast to the classical ballet classroom format.
Beginner Contemporary/Jazz- 1st grade- 4th grade
Intermediate Contemporary- 4th grade- 7th grade
Advanced Contemporary- teacher placement required
“Hear What Our Parents & Students Have to Say”
Artisan has helped my daughter learn and master the fundamentals of classical ballet through the encouraging and gifted teachers. She has gained poise and coordination and confidence. We are so pleased with her training and highly recommend attending for classical ballet

Artisan is a true ballet school that provides classical ballet instruction and training. My daughter has been with Artisan Ballet School for ten years, since she was three years old. We have been pleased with the level of dance she has been able to achieve. Over the years her classes have included: Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Contemporary, and Pointe. With the direction of Martha Brem and her quality instructors, the yearly performances of The Nutcracker and Spring Recital are beautiful and artistic. My daughter has not only learned to dance, but has developed a true love of dancing.
My daughter has been dancing with Artisan since she was three years old, and we couldn't be any happier. The instructors are excellent and do a great job of tailoring instruction based on the age group! The performances are truly magnificent!
Professional and caring classical ballet school...high level of artistic ballet technique and instruction. Nutcracker and Spring Productions are wonderful!

Meet Our Dancer
Ellie Nelson, an 8th grade student at Aragon Middle School, was recently promoted from Senior Company to Soloist in Artisan Ballet Company. Ellie has been a member of Artisan School of Dance since 2010 and has become a well-rounded dancer taking classes in classical ballet, contemporary, modern, flamenco, tap and hip hop over the years.
Ellie is not only an accomplished dancer but also an accomplished student. Congratulations to Ellie for being selected to attend Trinity University’s summer Creative Writing Program as a Duke TIP Scholar. Ellie will be working with other scholars this summer to discover her artistic voice through an in-depth look at examples of great literature and the elements that form the foundation of such writing.
