Artisan School of Dance offers the following Classical Ballet Classes:
Toddler/Pre-Primary: for ages 2½ - 5 years old
These Ballet classes are designed to devolop musicality and movement in preschoolers, as well as introduce them to following instructions in a group class.
Primary Ballet: For ages 5-6 (kindergartners)
This Pre-Classical Ballet class introduces a more disciplined instruction and continue to focus on musical development while developing their ballet foundation.
Ballet Levels 1 & 2: For ages 7-9 (prerequisite for entrance into level 3)
This Introduction Ballet Class focuses on ballet vocabulary and basic ballet positions. Ballet Instruction will include Barre, Center, Petite Allegro, and Grand Allegro.
Ballet Level 3: For ages 8-10 (with previous experience in level 1 or 2)
This class continues advancing in the ballet steps taught in the level 2 ballet class. Students are expected to know and utilize French ballet terms for positions in class.
Ballet Level 4: For ages 9-12
4B - Ballet lessons will emphasize Pre-Pointe work and exercises to strengthen ankles and calves in preparation for Pointe work.
4A - Ballet lessons will continue with Pre-Pointe exercises as well as introduce work on barre. Students participating in this class will be required to have pointe shoes and will be performing a dance en pointe in the spring production. For ages 10+.
Ballet Levels 5: for ages 11+
Students will now have progressed into intermediate combinations and will be expected to be able to perform en pointe. The focus will be on performance style along with ballet variations. Pointe shoes are required.
Ballet Levels 6A/6B/7/8: For ages 12+
Students will now have progressed into more advanced combinations and wil be expected to be able to perform en pointe. The focus will be on performance style along with ballet variations. Pointe shoes are required for all levels.
Professional Program: For ages 11+ by audition only.
These classes are designed to prepare dancers interested in pursuing a career in dance or dance in college. Classes include ballet technique, pointe, neo- classical and variations. This program is limited in size to provide dancers with individual attention and instruction. The class is currently estimated to include 8-12 dancers. The classes will be held Monday-Thursday from 4:30 to 6:30. Classes are intended to be a supplement to our other advanced level classes also taught by professional instructors.
